An In Depth Tikona Review of 4 Mbps Broadband Plan by a College Professor

I am a college professor and like to help my students understand all kinds of complex topics. To do this, I tend to use videos, PowerPoint presentations, and other audio-visual material. A slow internet connection would only take a lot of time to load videos and download them.

The internet connection I had would sometimes stop working in the middle of my work. I found this incredibly convenient as I did not have to bother to pay my internet bill every month. The fact that I had to pay INR 3,800 for unlimited data also made it budget-friendly. My kids who had heard good reviews for Tikona Infinite Limited from their friends were also happy that I switched to Tikona broadband as they could now work on their projects smoothly. I found that the plan easily matched all my needs. 

How was Tikona connection installed?

Tikona’s installation process was very fast. I had contacted the company via its website after browsing through all the plans and finally selecting one. It took one evening to set up and install the entire infrastructure needed. There were two routers installed. The first one was installed on the terrace. From there, a cable was used to connect the one on the terrace to the second one that was installed at home. Since then, I have been able to access the Tikona broadband service on any device with Wi-Fi.

My final review and rating

I have been using Tikona’s internet service since the past six months. I haven’t yet found any problems with it. I just paid the subscription amount for the next three months.
As per my Tikona review, the internet connection is really smooth. It is always fast and till now it has never been down. If you want fast internet with just about no down time, I would definitely recommend Tikona.

Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS)


As the name suggests, Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) is a protocol, which is used to shape a network's traffic flow and intensify its speed. It enables several packets to be transferred at the switching level that is Layer 2 instead of them having to be sent up to the routing level, better known as Layer 3. The ingress router labels every packet that forays into the Internet Service Provider’s (ISP) network. As per the labeling, the succeeding routing switches then forward the packets. After this step, the egress router takes over operations and proceeds with forwarding the original IP packet to its destination by discarding the labels.

Devices operating as egress or ingress routers are generally referred to as Provider Edge (PE) routers. On the other hand, ones functioning solely as transit routers have received the title of Provider (P) routers.  It is important to note that the labeling plays a vital role in determining the path that will be followed by the packet. These paths, which are referred to as label-switched paths (LSPs), enable service providers to determine beforehand the ideal way for specific types of traffic to be directed within a public or private network.


About MPLS
MPLS functions via the frame relay and Internet Protocol (IP), Asynchronous Transport Mode (ATM) network protocols. Its naming was largely influenced by this association. Moreover, either of these protocols could be employed to form a label-switched path. The idea behind its creation back in the 1990s was to save time that routers would otherwise have spent in installing and reviewing routing tables. IPSec vs. SSL VPNs

Internet Protocol Security (IPSec) became a leading medium to ensure secure network-layer connectivity for non-secured IP networks, which includes the internet. IPSec established itself within a short span when IP Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) made a foray in the late 1990s.
Although IPSec enjoyed its fair share of popularity among consumers, Secure Socket Layer (SSL) VPNs soon emerged. SSL was capable of providing application-layer access over the Web.


How IPSec VPNs emerged
IPSec’s growing popularity was not surprising since customers found it to be an affordable option when it came to purchasing the internet connection and making WAN connections over the same. In fact, IPSec was considered much more pocket-friendlier than investing in a frame relay, Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) service, or dedicated circuits.
However, IPSec is quite complex. This is because the larger the number of sites connecting to each other, the greater will be the need to maintain and define several secure links. If you are using IPSec for remote access, then you will need to ensure that every remote machine has software that can be installed and maintained.


About SSL VPNs
SSL was capable of enabling application-layer access over the Internet by employing capabilities that were typical for many browsers. With SSL, distribution and maintenance of client software for remote devices were no longer mandatory for businesses who were interested in remote-access VPNs.
However SSL had a limitation, wherein browsers only received access to Web-based applications. Despite this drawback, technology solved this issue by transforming non-Web applications to Web-based ones by using ActiveX or Java which could facilitate access to non-Web-enabled applications. Through these plug-ins, remote computers could generate network layer connections, which were similar to IPSec. Moreover, this could easily be accomplished without dedicated VPN client software distribution. SSL VPNs are therefore creating stiff competition for IPSec VPNs in terms of remote access.

The three modes of access provided by SSL VPN are as follows:
1.    Thin Client
Remote access to applications based on Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), such as Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), Post Office Protocol version 3 (POP3), Secure Shell (SSH), Telnet, and Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) is facilitated because the capability of the cryptographic operations of a browser is extended by the Thin Client mode.
   
2.    Clientless
Secure access to content on the Internet and private Web resources is facilitated through the Clientless mode. It offers users the benefit of accessing everything from databases, the Internet, to online tools, which employ a Web interface.

3.    Tunnel Mode
Comprehensive support for applications is provided by the Tunnel Client mode. This function is enabled because of its Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client, specially designed for SSL VPN. Through Tunnel Client mode, almost any application receives complete network layer access. This is achieved because of Tunnel mode’s centrally-configured and lightweight SSL VPN tunneling client.
