Choosing the Best Internet Service Provider

India has a number of internet service providers (ISPs). Choosing a good ISP is very important as this can drastically alter your online experience. Poor quality connections can greatly impact the quality of service and limit your internet usage.

The following are some of the criteria based on which you will be able to choose the best ISP for you:

Service: Broadband service is of various types, such as Digital Subscriber Line (DSL), satellite, fiber optic, and cable. DSL usually offers a speed of up to 25 Mbps, cable offers download speeds from 3 Mbps to 100 Mbps, satellite offers speeds up to 15 Mbps, while fiber optic offers the highest speed of up to 300 Mbps. Depending on your requirement, opt for a suitable service. The services and performance may vary depending on the ISP and the area.

Speed: Speed is important for convenience and functionality, when using internet. Check the speed your ISP is offering along with the service. See both download as well as upload speeds. You may visit to get a better idea.

Tariff: Check the tariff plans from the ISP. Compare the prices of the service, considering the speed and usage limits. Check the price for modem and installation charges. See what discounts or offers the company is providing. It may also give you some add-ons or special features. Additionally, do not forget to check the price you will be charged, once the usage limit is exceeded.

Service limitations: Check the service limitations carefully. There may be some restrictions on surfing, data caps, or change of speed after a certain period. These limitations will obstruct your connectivity. Ensure that your ISP doesn’t have such restrictions.

Reliability: The ISP should be reliable. Special features and cheap rates will be of no use if the connection is not stable. Check the testimonials and reviews about the ISP. You may also check their rankings on authentic websites.

Approach towards customer: The ISP should excel in customer service. Technicians at the company should be available and ready to help customers, when needed. They should be able to resolve issues at the earliest. Ask other customers for advice and get a feedback on the ISP.

Internet Expansion, a Boost to ISP Growth in India

The usage of internet services in India has seen rapid growth in recentyears. According to a report from Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI), the country has seen a rise of 49% in the number of internet users.

Citing the growth in the number of users, India may soon become the second largest country in the world in terms of internet users. Currently, the US occupies the second place and India ranks third. China, with over 60 crore users, tops the list.

Growth in Internet Users

The IAMAI report predicted that the number of internet users may reach 40.2 crores by the end of this month. Among the 40.2 crore users, 30.6 crore will be smart phone users. In October 2015, smart phone internet users totaled 27.6 crores, as per IAMAI and Indian Market Research Bureau (IMRB). Mobile internet users will be dominating the market.

The rapid growth and popularity of internet in the recent years is evident from the statistics. The country took more than 10 years to change the number of internet users from 1 crore to 10 crores. In another 3 years, this became 20 crores. However, it took only a year for the figure to change from 30 crores to 40 crores.

The number of internet users in the country is expected to reach 46.2 crores by June, next year. Last year in December, the figure was 30 crores, which rose to 37.5 crores in October 2015.

The trends in the Indian market as of October 2015 show that urban Indian users have increased by 65% in the last year, reaching 19.7 crores, while the increase in the rural market was 99%, with 8 crore users. Additionally, the survey mentioned that 1.14 crore non-internet users expressed their wishes to use the internet within a year.

The overall increase in the usage of internet is set to enhance the businesses of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in the country. Good speed is very important in the internet world. ISPs that provide efficient services and high-speed connectivity will rule the market.

How the Internet Transformed Our World

In the last decade, internet services have expanded phenomenally, transforming the way we live. This has made everyday tasks simpler and it has also given us access to a whole new world of information and services. Most importantly the internet has revolutionizedthe way we communicate.

Language on the Internet
The language and vocabulary used today has different connotations and online services have given rise to new words and phrases. Today, words like wall, status, and tweet have a specific meaning in the digital world. New slang, phrases, and abbreviations are part of our day-to-day communication.
The internet has introduced new words to our vocabulary, such as trolling and derping, among others. Abbreviations like OMG, LOL and ROFL are widely popular in internet slang.

The internet has its own language, often aimed at younger audiences and users with a short attention span. The language in content aimed at such audiences is therefore concise and filled with abbreviations and memes. One of the best examples of concise writing is evident from Twitter, wherein users need to express themselves in 140 characters.

Articles on the web are usually less than 800 words on an average. This lets the reader quickly skim through the content. Bullet points and sub-headings are used for enhanced convenience. Readers nowadays look for shorter and simpler options. Messages and phrases are also shortened. This has created a language of itself. For instance, ‘atb’ is used for ‘all the best’ and ‘ttyl’ for ‘talk to you later.’

Ease of Communication

Communicating from one place to another has become quick and easy. Distance doesn’t matter anymore. You may communicate in real time, with people in any corner of the world. Technology that enables video calls gives one a feeling of personal communication. Visual presence offers improved interaction.

In what seems like another lifetime, postal mail could take weeks to reach a recipient. Now, e-mails can reach their target instantly. International calls used to be very expensive, but this is no longer the case, with the internet and online messaging applications like Skype, Viber, Jio Chat, and WhatsApp making this easy and affordable. This boosts everyday communication. Connecting with old friends and colleagues is now simple and convenient. Global communication has also become very fast and it’s also possible to communicate with greater audiences in no time at all.

Businesses are streamlined, organized and have improved logistics. Conducting conferences and brainstorming sessions has also become simpler. There are varied platforms for different needs. Facebook is for personal needs, LinkedIn for professional needs, Reddit for mixed conversations, and Twitter for brief communication. This also lowers the price of communication as most of these platforms are free of cost.

With so many benefits offered from the internet, its usage is increasing rapidly. Not surprisingly, the increased penetration is transforming lives across India. Tikona Digital Networks, as an internet service provider, is helping people transform lives with its dynamic broadband plans and 4G serviceswhich is slated to release in 2016.
